

While the US is gone from the World Cup, soccer in St. Louis has found new life. Seemingly left for dead after the main investors bailed on the team - which left the Athletica in ruins - the past several weeks have been incredible for St. Louis soccer.
AC St. Louis was 1-7-1 going into a match with Puerto Rico on June 12, and since then they’ve been a different team
Yep, that’s three wins in the last four games. The victories against Des Moines and Minnesota are the two that propelled AC St. Louis to their game against the LA Galaxy Tuesday, 9:30 central.
On top of all that, it appears the team is financially stable for now. Jeff Cooper has injected some of his finances into the team, which will keep them afloat for the rest of the season. Cooper also fired coach Claude Anelka, replacing him with local Dave Schilly.
While it would be terrific to see AC St. Louis take down the Galaxy, they do have quite a feat ahead of them. AC St. Louis dropped their only other match against an MLS team, when they lost 2-1 to the Kansas City Wizards.
